Airdrie - Broomfield Park : Map credit National Library of Scotland Airdrieonians Football Club moved from Mavisbank Park to Bloomfield in 1892, where they constructed a cinder track for bicycle racing. The first sports meeting at the new ground was the ‘Grand Opening Cycling Meeting' on Wednesday afternoon, 21st June 1893, which included half and one mile handicap races and a five miles invitation scratch race.

The football club held a further cycling race meeting on 26th August 1893, the handicap events were half and one mile open, three miles local, one mile novices and a five miles scratch race. Admission cost sixpence, grandstand sixpence extra and boys threepence.

Bicycle racing continued to be popular in the 1890s and the 31st August 1895 meeting had five running races and five bicycle races for ‘Class A' riders, with 41 competitors. There was tandem racing and the popular five miles scratch race

The football club held two summer meetings in 1896, the first had an attendance of 3,000, but for the second August meeting there were only 2,000 spectators. The Airdrie Advertiser praised the club for running the athletics and cycling sports but commented that the meetings over the past few years had been held "with no great success from a monetary point of view."

Bicycle racing started to become less popular, there were summer meetings in 1897 and 1898, then Airdrie and District Cycling Club held a meeting on 30th June 1900 and the Police held their sports on 11th August 1900. This was the last bicycle racing at Broomfield Park.

The ground closed in 1994 and was developed as a Morrisons supermarket. Airdrieonians FC were liquidated in 2002 and were replaced by Airdrie United and in 2013 Airdrie United changed its name to Airdrieonians FC.
